BIOGRAPHY

Who am I?
My name is Ian Brown. I'm a filmmaker and the creator of Brown Media. Ever since I was little, I loved recording everything. Whether it was a family vacation or my action figures fighting. But I thought of it as nothing more than a hobby until middle school. When I was 12 years old, I started to learn about videography and editing in my broadcast class. I realized soon after that I wanted to dive deeper. Cinema and filmmaking became my passion and throughout high school, I directed, shot, and edited multiple short films. I now hope to one day work as a film director. I am currently in my third year at Morehouse College actively working on projects.

FILMOGRAPHY

Spy Kids 5
July 2018
This is the first short film I ever made. I made this at a film camp I attended at Harvard. It was made to be a sort of spoof sequel in the Spy Kids franchise. It's about a spy who is kidnapped and her brother, (who's also a spy), has to go save her. I wanted to make the audience laugh and was able to succeed in doing so.

Shhh
July 2019
This was the final project for the LA summer camp. It's about two friends exploring an abandoned house. It was shot at the Universal Studios backlot. The house was used in the movie "Hancock" starring Will Smith. My goal for this film was to scare the audience at least once. When it was screened at the end of the camp I was able to scare them twice.

There's Someone Here
November 2020
This is a short film I made for my video production class. It is a Boring Room challenge, which is where you make a film in just one location. It's about a woman who's home alone getting a scary message.

Changes
May 2021
This is a short film I made for my video production class. It was the first film I made with my first camera. A Canon C100 Mark I. It's about a teen in a state of depression who realizes he needs to break his unhealthy habits.

Dreams of the Future
July 2019
This is the first of two films that I made at a film camp in LA. It's about a man from western times waking up in the future. It was shot at the Universal Studios western backlot. My goal for this film was to try a long take, which is something I always love seeing in movies. Unfortunately, it wasn't well-executed, but I was able to make something a little better.

Trapped
April 2020
This is a short film I made a month after quarantine started. I was listening to a song that's used in the film and thought of an idea. I planned it out and shot and edited it on a Saturday. This film is probably the one I'm most proud of. It's about a man going through the same routine every day in quarantine.

Breathe With Me
April 2021
This is the mini-documentary I made for the Breathe With Me event at Gunn High School. It's also the first film I made with the new camera. I was so excited to get this opportunity because I have never made a documentary before so it was great to try something new.

The Screen
July 2021
This is a short film I made at my last film camp, this time in NYC. There was an original film I had in mind but was unable to do it. In the two-hour window I was given, I had to come up with a new idea, plan it, and shoot it. This taught me to be ready for anything and know how to adapt when making a film. I got to do my first official action scene, which I believe was executed fairly.

Moving On
July 2021
This was my final project for the film camp I did this summer. There are some rushed things in here because during filming my laptop was unfortunately stolen and dealing with that took up a lot of time. But, I’m still proud of how this turned out regardless. It's about a man dealing with a recent breakup and trying to clear his head.

Chillers Ep. 2
November 2021
This is a part of a horror anthology series for my video production honors class. It's the first time I've co-directed and worked on original music for a film. I also edited it and did the majority of the shots. It's about a teen going for a walk on Halloween evening and has an unexpected encounter.

Henry
December 2021
This is a film I made for my Honors Advanced Video Production class and for my family friends Kaloma, Larin, and Henry Smith. This is my second attempt at making a documentary and my first official attempt to compose my own music for a film. Kaloma and Larin explain how they adopted their son and how their life has changed forever. Special thanks to them for allowing me to help them share their story.

Alex
May 2022
This is my first narrative film with dialogue and my last high school film. It's about a teen recovering from a recent traumatic event attending another therapy session. This is based on a scene from a bigger film I am currently developing.

VOID
September 2024
This is my first college project and the biggest film I've done yet. I co-wrote/directed/produced with one of my best friends. You can find more info about in the VOID section.
